Stravaig Spirits takes home top whisky awards

Scottish Whisky Bottler Stravaig Spirits took home Gold and Silver awards at the World Whisky Awards.

So far this year Tri Carragh has been awarded 12 medals across 11 products from the World Whisky Awards, IWSC 25, Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition and Spirit Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

Now another two can be added to the collection with a Gold and Silver medal at the World Whisky Awards 2026 with their Lochindaal 16yo being named Category Winner.

Founded by two friends, Ola Lopatowska and Ryan McCafferty, the Edinburgh based Stravaig Spirits Company launched their Tri Carragh single cask brand in 2022.

With a combined industry experience of over 20 years, the pair wanted to bring the very best, complex and characterful single cask whiskies to market.

The latest winning whiskies are from Tri Carragh’s newest, ninth release.

‘This year has already been fantastic for us with our whiskies winning awards and medals at several major award bodies,’ Ryan said.

‘So to end the year with another Gold and Silver Award alongside being announced as the Category winner for our Lochindaal 16yo is absolutely fantastic.

‘From the very beginning we have strived to release the very best single cask whiskies—whiskies with depths of flavour and aroma.

‘So to win another two medals with our latest release is a testament to the consistent quality of our single cask whiskies.’

Picking up the Gold and Category Winner Medal was the single cask bottling; Bruichladdich Lochindaal. This single malt is bottled from a single 1st Fill Bourbon Barrel, bottled at cask strength of 57.8% ABV and one of only 215 bottles.

Lochindaal is a very special distillate produced by Bruichladdich and sold exclusively to individuals in 2008 and 2009.

The heavily peated casks are extremely rare, with only a couple of hundred casks ever filled.

The second winner on the night was Tri Carragh’s Craigellachie 16yo. Winning Silver the Craigellachie is a result of careful cask management.

Having initially matured in a refill bourbon cask this whisky was finished for 14 months in a second Fill Bourbon Barrel, giving it a gentle nudge of flavour without overpowering the spirit character.

Bottled at cask strength of 54.4% and one of only 125 bottles, this whisky is already selling fast.
